Research Policy

The diagram below shows the four main alternatives of research into health risks. From correctly identifying a risk to incorrectly dismissing a risk.

On the one hand, products and solutions can bring tremendous benefits to society. On the other, they may carry health risks that are not initially detectable. The temptation for a company with high profit expectations on it might be to focus on discrediting research that brings into question the safety of its products. Another temptation might be to ignore warnings on health risks until more research could be carried out. In other words an industry – centered approach would be to focus on having research results initially accepted as correct positives re-classified as false positives.

Purity’s policy is consumer–focused. Consumers want to be spared false negatives. So it is Purity’s policy to listen to early warnings of heath risks, and, where possible, incorporate these findings into products that give the consumer the opportunity to avoid the suspected health risk. And at the same time work to keep concerned consumers up to date with findings.
